TermDefinition
Geography study of Earth’s physical features and the living things that inhabit it
Primary source- -descriptions of events by someone who witnessed or lived through that event
Secondary Source- created by people who were not present at an event
Plagiarism- -the presentation of the ideas or words of another person as your own without giving that person credit- ex copying someone elses words
Spatial- refers to the earth’s features in terms of their locations, shapes, and relationships to each other-ex.study the size and shape of cities , states, and countries
Latitude imaginary lines on a map that run east to west-Equator
Longitude- -imaginary lines on a map that run north to south-ex go from North Pole to South Pole-Prime Meridian
Hemisphere the equator and the prime meridian each divide Earth in half- we live in the Northern Hemisphere
Key symbols, colors and lines
Scale bar- relationships between distances on the map and on the earth
Compass rose- directions
Politicals -human made such as boundaries between countries
Physical-s natural features-mountains, valleys, rivers, lakes
Thematic more specialized info such as kind of plants
Road map- how to get from one place to another when your GPS wont work
