*collect evidence: nurse searches for research articles on the topic uses databases and finds peer-review articles
*appraise evidence critically evaluates the research study, randomized control study (RCT)
What level of research is the gold standard for research? randomized control study RCT
What level of research is the gold standard for EBP? meta-analyses of RCTs
What is the statistical analysis of many research studies? meta-analyses
What is the summary of many research studies? systematic review (aka literature review or "state of the art")
What is quantitative? statistical data
What is quatitative mean? interviews and surveys
What is the lowest level of evidence? expert opinion
What are the parts of a research article? A - abstract I - introduction M - methods RaD - results and discussion
What part of the research article gives the brief summary? abstract
What does the introduction of a research article do? gives purpose of title
What is literature review/background? summary of existing info
What does the methods part of a research article state? organization and conduction ie hypothesis and variables
What part of the research article gives the evidence? results and evidence
What is the practical application of evidence? clinical implications
