Transform Two plates shift and move in two different directions. Can cause earthquakes
Convergent: subduction A continental and a oceanic plate move towards each other, the oceanic plate goes underneath. Can cause tsunamis.
Convergent Continental plates move towards each other, one goes underneath the other can create mountain ranges
Divergent Plates move away from each other. Can cause volcanoes
What are the 5 types of rocks Magma, Igneous rock, Sedimentary rock, Sediments, Metamorphic rocks
Topsoil Top layer of soil. Known as horizon A.
Parent soil Middle layer of soil. Known as horizon C.
Subsoil Last layer of soil. Known as horizon B.
Soil profile The three different layers that exist in the soil beneath the surface of the ground.

Transition zone Where one vegetation gradually changes into another
Boreal forest All coniferous trees
Deciduous forest Variety of deciduous species includes, maple trees, oak trees, etc.
Mixed forest Both boreal and deciduous forests
West coast forest Huge trees, lush forest
LOWER near water Latitude, Ocean currents, Wind and air masses, Elevation, Relief, Near water
Tundra region Small trees, flowering plants. Found in Nunavut
Taiga and Boreal region Lush forest, coniferous trees. Found in all provinces
Grass land Some trees, big open land. Found in southern prairies, like Alberta, Manitoba, etc.
Mixed forest In between and boreal and deciduous
Wide variety Lots of precipitation, relief. Found in Vancouver
How does latitude affect climate It affects climate because the further you go from the equator
How does ocean currents affect climate If affects climate because if you have a warm ocean current then you will have a warmer climate. If you have a cold ocean current the climate will be colder. When wind blows off of the water it can bring
How does wind and air masses affect climate If affects the climate because if there are commonly air masses in a place when they move they will take those characteristics with it.
How does elevation affect climate It affects climate because it becomes colder the further up you go because as air rises it expands and cools because of lower air pressure. If you are higher up you will have a colder climate then those who live at sea level
How does relief affect climate It affects the climate because if you live on the windward side of a mountain you will have a lot of precipitation and be very humid but if you are on the leeward side of a mountain it will be very dry
What is LOST BAD Legend, Orientation, Scale, Title, Border, Author, Date
What are the three ocean currents that affect Canada Labrador current, Alaska current and Gulf stream
Plate tectonics The theory that earths crust is divided into several large plates that interact with each other
How do you create Magma Through melting igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks
How do you create Igneous rock Through cooling magma
How do you create Sediments Through weathering, erosion and deposition of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic
How do you create Metamorphic rocks Through heat and pressure of sedimentary and igneous rock
How do you create Sedimentary rock Through compaction and cementation of sediments
What is weathering The breaking down of rocks
What is deposition The settling of rocks
What was happening to the Great Lakes region 10 000 year ago The glaciers were melting away and forming the lakes
If you go back further then 10 000 years ago what was happening in the Great Lakes region It was all covered in ice

When the climate warmed and the glaciers melted what happened to the water from the glacier It formed the Great Lakes
Why does the water go south After the glaciers melted the North rose up and cut off the flow to the North
What is population density It is the number of people living per square kilometer
What is population distribution It is the pattern of where people live in a certain area
What is a dispersed settlement pattern It is where communities are living far apart from each other
What is a concentrated settlement pattern It is where communities are living in close proximity to each other
