acinar cell cells A secreting cell lining an acinus, especially one of the cells of the pancreas that furnish pancreatic juice. Also called acinous cell.
fundus The fundus of the uterus is the top portion, opposite from the cervix. Fundal height, measured from the top of the pubic bone, is routinely measured in pregnancy to determine growth rates.
testes the male generative gland in animals. aka the "sack" for those wishing for english terms. corresponds to the ovaries in females.
testosterone a steroid hormone from the androgen group. primarily secreted in the testes of males and the ovaries of females, although small amounts are also secreted by the adrenal glands. It is the principal male sex hormone and an anabolic steroid.
fertilization union of sperm and ovum
fallopian tube place where union of sperm and ovum occur. also: also known as oviducts, uterine tubes, and salpinges (singular salpinx) are two very fine tubes lined with ciliated epithelia, leading from the ovaries of female mammals into the uterus.
true pelvis area fetus must pass during birth. "true pelvis the part of the pelvis inferior to a plane passing through the iliopectineal lines."
areola a narrow zone surrounding a central area, e.g. the darkened area surrounding the nipple of the human mammary gland.
