What is PPO(Preferred Provider Organization)? A network of health care providers who agree to provide services to plan members at a discounted fee.
What does the term premium mean? A payment made to a health plan by a policyholder for coverage.
Remittance Advice(RA)is what? An electronic documentin a health plan that lists the amount of a benefit and explains how it was determined.
What is a National Provider Identifier? It's a national standard identifier for all health care providers consisting of ten numbers.
What is electronic data interchange(EDI)? The transfer of business transactions from one computer using communications protocols.
A Practice Managment Program is what? It's a software program that automates many of the administrative and financial tasks required to run a medical practice.
What is the X12-837 Health Care Claim(837P)? The electronic format of the claim used by physicians' offices to bill for services.
What reports are designed to provide payesr with "clean" claims? Audit/Edit Reports
To purge data means to what? To delete files of patients who are no longer seen by a provider in the practice.
What is packing data? The deletion of vacant slots from the database.
What is a knowledge base? A searchable collection of up-to-date technical information.
What does rebuilding indexes mean? It's a process that checks and verifies data and corrects any internal problems with the data.
