What is a sign? | Signs or abnormal objective findings are the evidence of disease found by physical examination and diagnostic testing. |
What is a syndrome? | A defined collection of signs and symptoms that characterize a disorder or condition. |
What is pathogenesis? | The development of disease that occurs in stages. |
What is acute? | Abrupt onset of more or less severe symptoms that run a brief course (usually shorter than 6 months) and then resolve or in some cases result in death. |
What is Chronic? | When a disease develops slowly or is intermittent and lasts longer than 6 months. |
What is a risk factor? | Predisposing factors that make a person or group more vulnerable to disease. |
