accessibility the opportunity for contact or interaction from a given point or location in relation to other places.
place making any activity, deliberate or unintentional, that enables space to acquire meaning.
areal units spatial unit of measurement, such as city block used for recording statistics
map projection a systematic rendering on a flat surface if the geographic coordinates of the feature found on Earth's surface.
conformal projections map projections on which compass bearings are rendered accurately.
equal area projection map projection portraying earth surface to its true porportions.
visualization a computer-assisted representation of spatial data, often including three-dimensanal images and innovative perspectives, that reveal spatial patterns and relations more effectivly
regional geography study of the unique enviornment with distinctive landscapes and cultural attributes
site the physical attributes of a location including terrain, soil, vegetation, water sources
situation the location of a place relative to other places and human activities
cognitive images/mental maps maps created from people individual ideas and impression of ideas
cognitive distance distance people percieve to exist
friction of distance effects of distance on human activity
distance decay function the rate in which something diminishes with increasing distance
utlity the usefulness of a specific place or location to a particular person or group.
cognitive space space defined and measured in terms of nature and degree of peoples values.
topographical space the connections between particular points in space.
PLACE (1st meaning) an objective location that has both uniqueness and interdependence with other places.
place 2nd meaning social and cultural construct,somewhere with personal meaning

spatial diffusion the way by which things spread through space and overtime
geodemographic research using census data to create profiles of populations for market research
masculisism the assumption that the world is and should be shaped mainly by men for men.
ethnocetrim attitude towards somebodies own race or religion that they are superior to others.
religion belief system and a set of practices that recognize the exsitence of a power stronger then humans
cultural trait a single aspect of the complex routine practices that constitute a particular culture group
cultural system a collection of elements/traits that shape a group's collective identity
cultural region the area within which a particula cultural system prevails
