What do you need to talk with the family and the Older Adult Pt driving? Need to have a talk with family and patient about driving. Should they be driving? Do they feel safe driving?
When assessing an OA and their ability to drive you need to check what? Need to check mental status, may not know how to drive anymore, may not hear or see.
What might help a family that is concerned their OA loved one should not be driving? Talk to the OA and have them see a doctor or a neurologist to see objectively if they fail a test to drive, that is easier than families telling them they cant drive. It needs to be physical and mental abilities.
Who will test for driving abilities? Not DMV, but occupational therapists will test for driving.
In OAs there is a ____ number of crashes, but increasing over age of ___? small # of crashes that increases over the age of 70
In OAs the crashes are more due to what? More due to presence of diseases, and age related changes in reaction time.
