Question Answer
phospholipid bilayer  Cellular membranes are made of this.
mitochondria  The power house of the cell. Uses glucose to create energy for cell processes.
chromosomes  Made of DNA
lysosomes  Contains digestive enzymes.
Golgi apparatus  The post office for the cell. Looks like a stack of pancakes.
nucleolus  Lies within the nucleus and produces ribosomes.
ribosomes  Responsible for protein production.
endoplasmic reticulum  A series of canal-like structures. Can be smooth or rough depending on whether it is associated with ribosomes or not.
nuclear pores  Surrounds the nucleus. A double phospholipid bilayer, it has pores in it through which RNA leaves.
cilia  Used by the cell for motion. Often seen in large numbers.
flagella  Used by the cell for motion. Usually only one or two per cell.
centrioles  Used by animal cells for cell division.
microtubule  A protein resembling a straw used by cells to support structure or move.
microfilament  A thin protein used by cells in their skeleton.
cytoskeleton  Microfilaments and microtubules make up this for the cell.
