Opposites | Two numbers that are the same distance from zero on the number line. |

Variable | A letter used to represent a number in math. |
Equation | Mathematical sentence that contains an equal sign. |
Inverse Operations | Opposite operations that "undo" each other. |
Coordinate Plane | A grid consisting of an x-axis and y-axis used to plot points. |
Origin | The point of intersection of the x-axis and y-axis. The ordered pair for it is (0,0) |
Ordered Pair | (x-coordinate, y-coordinate) It identifies the location of a point on the coordinate plane. |
Quadrants | The four regions that the coordinate plane is divided into by the x-axis and y-axis. |
x-axis | The horizontal line of the coordinate plane. |
y-axis | The vertical line of the coordinate plane. |
Inequality | Mathematical sentence that contains greater than, less than, greater than or equal to, or less than or equal to signs. |
Dependent Variable | Variable graphed on the y-axis. |
Independent Variable | Variable graphed on the x-axis. |
Product | Answer to a multiplication problem. |
Quotient | Answer to a division problem. |
Coefficient | A number multiplied by a variable. For example, 5x, the 5 is the coefficient. |
