Question | Answer |
ADULT ONE RESCUER CPR 1 | ADULT ONE RESCUER CPR
-Check scene for safety
-Determine unresponsiveness and check for breathing
-If no response and/or breathing, activate emergency response system. Get AED if possible. |
ADULT ONE RESCUER CPR 2 | -Check pulse-no more than 10 seconds -If no pulse, begin cycles of 30 COMPRESSIONS & 2 BREATHS
-Recheck pulse after every 5 cycles (2 min.) |
ADULT TWO RESCUER CPR 1 | -After checking scene for safety, 1st rescuer checks responsiveness & breathing -If no response, 2nd rescuer activates emergency response system and gets while 1st rescuer checks pulse and begins compressions if necessary |
ADULT TWO RESCUER CPR 2 | -When 2nd rescuer returns, 1st rescuer will give compressions while 2nd rescuer gives breaths at rate of 30:2
- Recheck pulse and switch positions after every 5 cycles |
AED 1 | -Turn on AED
-Attach pads and plug in connector
-AED will analyze rhythm (be sure to
STAND CLEAR whenever rhythm is analyzed or shock given) |
AED 2 | -If shock advised, administer shock
-After giving 1 shock, resume CPR
immediately for 2 minutes with
5 cycles of 30 compressions &
2 breaths |
ADULT RESCUE BREATHING 1 | -Check scene for safety
-Determine unresponsiveness and check for breathing
-If no response and breathing, activate emergency response system. Get AED
if possible. |
ADULT RESCUE BREATHING 2 | -Check pulse-no more than 10 seconds
-if victim has pulse but no breathing, give
1 breath every 5-6 seconds. Recheck pulse after 2 minutes. |
ADULT AIRWAY OBSTRUCTION 1 | Conscious victim-
-Get behind victim. Make a fist with thumb inside & cover with other hand
-Position just above victim’s navel -Administer abdominal thrusts (or chest thrusts if needed) |
ADULT AIRWAY OBSTRUCTION 2 | Unconscious victim-
-If victim loses consciousness, activate emergency response system
-Perform CPR. Every time you open
airway for breaths, open victim’s mouth to look for obstruction. Remove obstruction if you see it. |
CHILD ONE RESCUER CPR 1 | -Check scene for safety
-Check for responsiveness & breathing
-If possible, send someone to activate the emergency response system and get the AED. (If alone, stay with the child for 2 minutes of care UNLESS
the child has suddenly collapsed) |
CHILD ONE RESCUER CPR 2 | -Check pulse for 5-10 seconds
-If no pulse, start CPR with ratio of 30 compressions and 2 breaths. Use 1 or 2 hands for compressions.
-Recheck pulse after every 5 cycles |
CHILD TWO RESCUER CPR | -Check scene for safety
-Rescuer 1 checks responsiveness
and breathing while Rescuer 2 activates EMS and gets the AED
-Check pulse for 5-10 seconds.
-If no pulse, start CPR with ratio of
15 compressions & 2 breaths. |
CHILD RESCUE BREATHING 1 | -Check scene for safety
-Check for responsiveness & breathing
-If no response, send someone to
Activate EMS if possible. If alone, stay with the victim and give care for 2 minutes before activating EMS. |
CHILD RESCUE BREATHING 2 | -Check pulse for 5-10 seconds
-If victim clearly has a pulse, give rescue breaths at a rate of 1 breath
every 3-5 seconds.
-Check pulse again every 2 minutes. |
CHILD AIRWAY OBSTRUCTION | Conscious victim-follow same
guidelines for adult except thrusts would not be as forceful; may need to kneel when giving thrusts
Unconscious victim- follow same guidelines for adult; never do a blind finger sweep-only sweep if
you can see the object |
INFANT ONE RESCUER CPR 1 | -Check scene for safety
-Check responsiveness & breathing
-If no response, shout for help and send
someone to activate EMS if possible. If alone, give care for 2 minutes before activating EMS. |
INFANT ONE RESCUER CPR 2 | -Check pulse at brachial artery for 5-10
Seconds.
-If no pulse, start CPR with a ratio of 30
compressions and 2 breaths per cycle. Position 2 fingers in center of chest just below nipple line. Push hard and fast.
-Recheck pulse every 5 cycles. |
INFANT TWO RESCUER CPR 1 | -Check scene for safety
-Rescuer 1 checks responsiveness and breathing while Rescuer 2 activates
EMS and gets AED if possible. |
INFANT TWO RESCUER CPR 2 | -Rescuer 1 checks pulse for 5-10 seconds
-If no pulse, start CPR with a ratio of
15 compressions and 2 breaths. Use
2 thumbs encircling technique for
Giving compressions. |
INFANT AIRWAY OBSTRUCTION 1 | Conscious-
-Recognize the signs(infant cannot cough
or cry, turning blue)
-Position infant prone with head lower
than chest;give 5 backslaps |
INFANT AIRWAY OBSTRUCTION 2 | Unconscious-
-Establish unresponsiveness
-Activate EMS if not alone |
INFANT AIRWAY OBSTRUCTION 1.1 | Conscious
-Turn infant on back, keeping head lower
than chest;give 5 chest thrusts
-Repeat until effective or infant loses
Consciousness |
INFANT AIRWAY OBSTRUCTION 2.1 | -Perform CPR (30 compressions & 2
breaths),except that you should
perform a tongue-jaw lift & finger sweep before giving breaths if you
see the object.Never perform a blind finger sweep.
-If alone, activate EMS after 2 minutes. |
