Primary functions of upper airway.  Act as conductor of air, humidify and warm air, prevent foreign materials from entering tracheobronchial tree, speech and smell.  
The Tracheobroncial tree is lined in?  Pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium.  
Tight space  Area between alveoli epithelium and pulmonary capillary endothelium.  
Loose space  Surrounds the bronchioles, respiratory bronchioles, alveolar ducts and sacs. This space has lymph vessels.
