Cell Cycle and Mitosis

What occurs in G1 of Interphase? growth of the cell, 1st part of Interphase

What occurs in the G2 phase of Interphase? growth of cell, 3rd part of Interphase
What phase of the cell cycle does the cell spend most of its life? Interphase (G1, S, G2)
What part of the cell cycle does DNA replicate? During S phase of Interphase
What are the 4 stages of Mitosis? Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase
What is the first stage of Mitosis? Prophase
What is the second stage of Mitosis? Metaphase
What is the third stage of Mitosis? Anaphase
What is the fourth stage of Mitosis? Telophase
What 3 things happen to the cell during Prophase? the chromatin turns into chromosomes, nucleus begins to disappear, centrioles start to move to the poles
What happens to the cell during Metaphase? chromosomes move to the MIDDLE of the cell
What happens to the cell during Anaphase? Chromosomes move AWAY/APART from the middle of the cell and go toward opposite ends of the cell.
What happens to the cell during Telophase? Form two new cells, chromosomes change back into chromatin
When do the chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell? Metaphase
When do the chromosomes move apart? Anaphase
When do the new cells form? Telophase
What is the process called that divides the CYTOplasm? CYTOkinesis
What are the 4 MAIN parts of the entire CELL CYCLE? G1, S, G2, M (MITOSIS)
What biomolecule is DNA? nucleic acids
