TermDefinition
access copyright organization which ensures authors are fairly compensated for their work
copyright Protects an author's property from being used without their permission
intellectual property things that are not physical but still belong to someone (i.e. song lyrics)
royalty compensation given to the author or creator or something for allowing you to use their property
trademark something that helps us tell different companies products apart (ex: product name, packaging)
public domain something that belongs to everyone and cannot be copyrighted
moral rights rights that the author has over their work/property
performing rights the right to perform music in public
plagiarism passing someone else's ideas off as your own
fair dealing exceptions to a copyright
patent product the process of how something is made but not how it looks
blanket license allows a performer to perform many songs as many times as they want
