Pronoun Terminology
pronoun types at the 7th grade level
Question | Answer |

pronoun | a word that takes the place of a noun |
antecedent | the noun that the pronoun refers to |
interrogative | used to ask a question (who, what, whose, whom, which) |
demonstrative | points out the noun w/out actually naming it; they demonstrate the noun (that, this, these, those) |
reflexive | refers back to the subject (myself, himself, herself, itself, yourself) |
intensive | same as reflexive only it is used for extra emphasis |
indefinite | does not refer to any specific person, thing or amount; it is vague & is not definite |
relative | introduce groups of words that act as adjectives |
possessive | shows possession |
personal | refers to people |
1st person pronoun | person speaking |
2nd person pronoun | person being spoken to |
3rd person pronoun | person/thing spoken about |
