Intristic motivation | refers to the actions we take because of enjoyment and other internal factors |
IGP | document that shows a student's course and diploma pathway from 8th grade to graduation |
Extrinsic motivation | refers to behavior that is driven by reward such as money, fame, grades, and praise |
Associate degree | 2 year degree |
Bachelor's degree | 4 year degree |
AP classes | high school course that offers credit for college |
College minor | declared secondary academic discipline during undergraduate studies |
College major | courses required by a college in order to receive a degree |
Loans | money lent with interest that you have to pay back |
Grants | money you don't have to pay back |
Scholarship | a grant-in-aid to a student; money that doesn't have to be paid back |
Certificate program | a program designed to give students mastery over a narrow subject area |
Prerequisite | a class you have to take before you can take a certain class |
Mastery's degree | second academic degree |
Doctoral degree | highest degree |
IBC | a credential that verifies an individual has met the established skill standards required to enter the workforce in a certain feild |
FAFSA | a form filled out for federal student aid |
Elective courses | classes that you get to choose or pick that aren't mandatory |
Dual enrollment classes | allow students to be enrolled in two separate academic institutions; refers to high school students taking college courses |
Credential | something that gives a title to credit or confidence; qualification |
College prep courses | means by which high school students can better meet the requirements for entry into college |
CLEP | offers students the opportunity to earn credit for college courses |
