(IPA) Independent Practice Association | Is an entifty that offers a number of reimbursement plans and contracts with providers who practice independently in their own clinics. |
(ICD-10-CM) International Classification of Disease, 10th Revision, Clinical Modifications | A listing that IDs the diagnostic categories, specific DRG numbers, and monetary values. That monetary value is how US hospitals and providers are reimbursed unless there are extenuating circumstances |
Managed Care | A type of health care plan; generally one or two types, namely HMO or preferred provider organization (PPO) |
(MSA) Medical Savings Accounts | A method for companies with 50 or fewer employees, self-employed persons, and the uninsured to purchase medical insurance by making tax-free deposits to an MSA |
(P4P) Pay for Performance | A type of managed care that encourage physicians to improve the quality of their clients care and reimburses them for their progress toward a fixed goal. |
(PPO) Preferred Provider Organization | A type of business agreement between a medical service provide and an insurer organization in which the fees for specific services are predetermined for an already established group of clients assigned to or selected by the provider. |
(PCP) Primary Care Physician | A Physician in an HMO who authorize medical care to clients. |
(UCR) Usual, Customary, and Reasonable Fee | Describes how providers are reimbursed for their servcies and is widely accepted by insurance carriers. The usual fee is a providers average fee for a service or what is usually charged for a procedure. |
Neglect | failure to provide basic care including, food, clothing, shelter, or medical attention that endangers the health of a child |
Physical Injury | burns, severe bruising, lacerations, fractures, injuries to internal organs |
Mental Injury | Harm to a childs well beings well being that damages their psychological or intellectual development. Child may be emotionally withdrawn, depressed, anxious, or aggressive, but injury is not evident |
