DNA | Deoxyribonucliec Acid-The chemical code found in the cells that comtains all the information for an organism's growth and development |
Mitosis | The division of the cell's nucleus |
Interphase | The point in the cell cycle in which DNA resembles a bunch of loose threads |
Prophase | The point in mitosis in which chrmosomes start to form and the nuclear envelope starts to weaken |
Metaphase | When chromosomes line up in the cell's middle |
Anaphase | When chromatids split and move to opposite sides of the cell |
Telephase | When the nuclear membrane starts to reform |
Animal cytokinesis | When the cytoplasm pinches together until it divides |
Plant cytokinesis | When a cell plate forms between two nuclei and becomes a membrane, and eventually a cell wall |
Adenine | A nitfogen base. Thymine's pair. |
Thymine | A nitrogen base. Adenine's pair |
Cytosine | A nitrogen base. Guanine's pair. |
Guanine | A nitrogen base. Cytosine's pair. |
Enzyme | What separates the DNA sides so that new bases can pair with the original sides. |
Genes | Instructions for making proteins that determine most of your characteristics. |
RNA | A half ladder containing uracil instead of thymine and sugar ribose instead of deoxyribose |
mRNA | Messenger RNA. Carries a code from the nucleus to the cytoplasm that determines how amino acids bond |
rRNA | Ribosomal RNA. Makes ribosomes. |
tRNA | Transfer RNA. Bring animo acids to the ribosomes nitrogen bases. |
