Asymmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex | Birth to 6 mo; Head position turn to 1 side, arm and leg ext; Interferes with: feeding, visual tracking, midline and bilateral use of hands, rolling, crawling and skeletal deformities |
Symmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex | 6-8 mo; Head flexed + limbs flexed and opposite; interferes with: ability to prop on arms, quadriped; crawling; sitting balance; skeletal deformities |
Tonic Labrynthine Reflex | Birth to 6 mo; Position of inner ear, supine = ext, prone = flex; interferes with: ability to roll, ability to prop on elbows, sitting, balance in sitting and standing |
Galant Reflex | 30 weeks gestation to 2 months; touch skin along spine, and lateral flexion in that direction; interferes with; sitting, can lead to scoliosis |
Palmar Grasp Reflex | Birth to 4 mo; interferes with ability to grasp and release objects and weight bearing on open hands |
Plantar Grasp Reflex | 28 weeks gestation to 9 mo; Pressure to base of toes = toe flexion; interferes with: standing on flat feet, balance reactions in weight bearing activities |
Rooting Reflex | 28 weeks to 3 mo; interferes with: oral motor development, mid line head control; visual tracking |
Moro Reflex | 28 weeks gestation to 5 mo; head drop = arm abductioni and finger ext then adduction and crying; interferes with: balance reactions in sitting, visual tracking, hand eye coordination |
Startle Reflex | 28 weeks gestation to 5 mo; loud, sudden noise = shoulder abduction, elbow flexion, hands closed and cry; interferes with: sitting, protective responses, heand eye coordination, visual tracking and attention |
Positive Support Reflex | 35 weeks gestation to 2 mo; interferes with: standing and walking; balance reactions and weight shift in standing, plantar flexion contractures |
Walking (Stepping) Reflex | 38 weeks to 2 mo; Supported standing with feet flat, reciprocal flexion and extension of LE's; interferes with: standing, walking, balance reactions, weight shifting, smooth walking |
