What are Cirrus Clouds?   They are wispy feathery clouds. They are at high levels about 6KM above the surface of the earth.

What is precipitation?   Any form of water that falls form clouds. May be rain or snow.

What is rain?   Most common precipitation. 0.5 mm diameter.

What is sleet?   It is frozen rain drops.

What is freezing rain?   Rain that freezes before it hits the ground.

What is hail?   Round pellets of ice.

What is snow?   Water in clouds is converted directly into ice crystals and it is called snow flakes.

How is precipitation measured? Rain and Snow   Rain is measured by a rain gauge. Snow is measured by a ruler.

What is a drought? Hint no rain   A period of no or little rain.

How do droughts affect people?   When there are long periods of no or little rain, farmers do not have water to grow crops.
