### Vocab on Polyhedra

polyhedron A solid formed by polygons that enclose a single region of space.
faces (polyhedron) The flat polygonal surfaces of a polyhedron
edge (polyhedron) A segment where two faces intersect.
vertex (polyhedron) A point of intersection of three or more edges.
tetrahedron A polyhedron with four faces.
Regular polyhedron A polyhedron where each face is a regular polygon and is congruent to each other face.
bases (prism) The top and bottom faces
lateral faces (prism) The faces that are not bases.
Lateral edge (prism) The lines where the lateral faces meet.
Prism A polyhedron with two faces (bases) that are congruent and parallel polygons, and whose other faces are parallelograms.
right prism A prism whose lateral faces are rectangles.
oblique prism A prism that is not a right prism.
Altitude of a prism A perpendicular segment from one base to the plane of the other.
Height of a prism The length of an altitude.
Pyramid A polyhedron with a polygonal base triangular faces.
Lateral faces (pyramid) The faces that are not bases.
Lateral edge (pyramid) The segments where lateral faces meet.
Altitude (pyramid) A segment from the vertex to the plane of the base.
Height (pyramid) The length of an altitude of the pyramid.
