Caliph a Muslim leader; a successor to Muhammad
Caliphate an Islamic government ruled by a caliph, a successor to Muhammad
Crusade an organized campaign concerning a political, social, or religious issue, typically by a fervent desire for change
Pilgrimage a journey made to some sacred place as an act of religious devotion
Pogrom an organized massacre, usually approved or condoned by authorities, against people of a religious, racial, or national minority, especially Jews
Prophet a person believed to have been chosen to speak for God
Rule of law the principle that all people in a society are expected to obey the law, and all laws are communicated and applied fairly regardless of a person's social status or position
Scholar a person who studies an academic subject and knows a lot about it
Trial by jury a legal proceeding in which a jury determines guilt or innocence
