What is Etymology | The study of the origin of words and the way in which their meanings have changed throughout history. |
Combining Form(CF) | The foundation of a word that gives the word its main medical meaning, has a root |
Suffixes | at the end of the word. Modifies or clarifies the medical meaning of the CF. Can be a -single letter or a group of letters. Most med. words have 1 some have 2 one after the other |
Prefixes | at the beginning of a word. optional word part, not every word has one. Modifies or clarifies the medical meaning of the CF. |
How to change singular nouns to their plural form | To make regular nouns plural, add –s to the end. If the singular noun ends in –s, –ss, –sh, –ch, –x, or –z, you usually add -es to the end to make it plural. In some cases, singular nouns ending in –s or –z require that you double the –s or –z prior to ad |
