Graduated Cylinder Used to measure the volume of liquids.
Beaker Cylinder shaped glass or plastic container used to mix or heat solids.
Thermometer A tool used to measure temperature in degrees. We use Celsius (C.)
Microscope An instrument that uses a lens to make tiny things look larger.
Pan or Balance Scale Tool used to compare the masses of 2 objects.
Spring Scale A tool to measure weight using the FORCE of gravity.
Triple Beam Balance A scale that uses 3 bars to measure the mass of an object.
Density The amount of matter compacted into a given volume of a substance.
Soluble Able to be dissolved in or by a liquid.
Insoluble NOT able to be dissolved in or by a liquid.
Boiling Point The temperature at which a liquid changes to a gas. 100*C
Freezing Point The temperature at which a liquid changes to a solid. 0*C
Melting Point The temperature at which a solid changes to a liquid. (Ice) 0*C
Matter Anything that takes up space and has mass.
Mass The amount of matter in an object.
Mixture A combination of 2 or more substances that when mixed together, keep their own properties.
Solution A mixture of 2 or more substances that are evenly distributed throughout.
