What is the structure of a phospholipid? A polar head with a fatty acid tail
What is hydrophilic or polar? They love water, substances that are hydrophilic dissolve in water
What is lipophilic? (hydrophobic or non-polar) They hate water, substances that are hydrophobic do not dissolve in water but they dissolve or mix with lipids
What is passive transport? No energy required
What is active transport? Energy required
What types of passive transport are there? Simple diffusion, channel meditated and carrier meditated
How does simple diffusion work? Substances dissolve in water or lipids
How does Channel meditated work? They use protein channels to get to the cell
How does carrier meditated work? They move other molecules across the membrane
