Matter Anything that takes up space and has mass.
Physical Property A characteristic of matter that you can observe or measure directly.
Mass The amount of matter in an object.
Temperature A measure of how hot something is.
Volume The amount of space that matter takes up.
Solid The state of matter that has a definite volume and shape.
Liquid The state of matter that has a definite volume but no definite shape.
Evaporation The process by which a liquid changes into a gas.
Gas The state of matter that does not have a definite shape or volume.
Condensation The process by which a gas changes into a liquid.
Physical Change A change in which a new substance is not formed.
Solution A mixture in which all the parts are evenly mixed.
Mixture A combination of two or more different substances that keep their identities.
Dissolve To completely and evenly mix one substance in another.
Chemical Change A change in one or more substances that forms new and different substances.
