TermDefinition
circle (p329) The set of points in a plane that are a given distance from a given point in the plane
center (p329) The given point from which all points on a circle are the same distance.
distance (p329) The length of the segment between two points.
radius (p329) The straight line from the center to the circumference of a circle or sphere.
segment (p329) Part of a line connecting two points
chord (p329) A segment whose endpoints lie on a circle
secant (p329) A line that contains a chord
diameter (p329) A chord that contains the center of a circle
tangent of a circle (p329) A line in the plane of the circle that intersects the circle in exactly one point
point of tangency (p329) The one and only one point where a line, ray, or segment in the plane of the circle intersects the circle.
sphere (p329) The set of all points in space that are a given distance from a given point
congruent circles (p330) Circles that have congruent radii.
congruent spheres (p330) Spheres that have congruent radii

concentric spheres (p330) Spheres that have the same center
inscribed in a circle, inscribed polygon (p330) A polygon placed inside a circle so that all the vertices of the polygon lie on the circumference of the circle.
circumscribed about the polygon, circumscribed circle (p330) A circle placed outside a polygon so that all the vertices of the polygon lie on the circumference of the circle.
great circle (p331) The intersection of a sphere with any plane passing through the center of the sphere.
