What is the definition of "customs duties"? Taxes on imports and exports.
What items did the Townshend Acts put taxes on? Lead, glass, paper, paint, and tea.
What were committees of correspondence? These were committees created to help Colonists communicate with each other in order to organize resistance against British rule.
What were the "Intolerable Acts"? This was the name given to the Coercive and Quebec Acts together.
Who were "minutemen"? These were specially trained militia members who were said to be "ready for battle at a moment's notice".
What items were taxed by the Stamp Act of 1765? Most printed materials such as newspapers, pamphlets, playing cards, and diplomas.
Why did Parliament pass the Coercive Acts of 1774? They published these acts to punish Massachusetts for the Boston Tea Party.
Where did the last battle of the Revolutionary War take place? This battle took place at Yorktown, Virginia.
What advantage did Morgan's Raiders (led by Daniel Morgan) have that they used against British forces? He and his soldiers had extensive knowledge of the land. They created blockades using large trees, which forced British soldiers off of well - known roads. Then the Raiders used guerrilla warfare tactics against them.
What invention allowed Colonial soldiers to fire their weapons at targets much further away than before, and with much greater accuracy? The invention of rifling - spiral grooves cut into the barrels of rifles - allowed soldiers to do this.
Who did General George Washington hire to help train troops at Valley Forge? General Washington hired General Baron von Steuben to help him with this.
List three (3) problems that Colonial soldiers experienced while they were at their winter camp in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. 1.) Lack of food; 2.) Spread of diseases such as smallpox; 3.) Lack of warm clothing and shoes to protect them from winter weather.
What was the "Boston Tea Party"? This was an act of rebellion by Colonists against British taxes. Boston citizens - disguised as Native Americans - boarded ships and dumped 342 chests of British tea overboard into Boston Harbor.
What Act (i.e. law) sparked the citizens of Boston to conduct the "Boston Tea Party"? The Tea Act of 1773 sparked this rebellion. This act "created favorable business terms for the struggling British East India Company.

What was the purpose of the Proclamation of 1763? The purpose of this was to attempt to stop colonial expansion into Native American lands west of the Appalachian Mountains.
