Natural Numbers | 1,2,3,4... They are the "Counting Numbers" you were taught as a child. These numbers do not have fractional parts |
Whole Numbers | 0,1,2,3,4... They are the counting numbers and zero. These numbers do not have fractional parts. |
Integers | All whole numbers positive and negative. These numbers do not have fractional parts. |
Rational Numbers | All numbers that can be expressed as a ratio of two whole numbers. This set includes terminating decimals, repeating decimals, and mixed numbers in addition to integers. |
Real Number | The set of irrational and rational numbers. |
Irrational Numbers | Cannot be expressed as a fraction. Ex: √2 6.123456789... & pi. This set includes decimals that are non repeating and non terminating. |
