Sequence | a pattern involving an ordered arrangement of numbers, geometrical figures, letters, or other objects |
Term | an individual number, figure, or letter in a sequence |
Ellipsis | a shortcut used to list a sequence |
Discrete Graph | a graph of isolated points |
Continuous Graph | a graph with no breaks in it |
Linear Graph | a graph that is a line or a series of collinear points |
Collinear Points | points that lie in the same straight line |
Non-Linear Graph | a graph that is not a line |
Mapping | represents two sets of objects or items |
Set | a collection of numbers, geometric figures, letters, or other objects that have some characteristic in common |
Function | maps each input to one and only one output |
Input | the first coordinate of an ordered pair in a relation |
Output | the second coordinate of an ordered pair in a relation |
Domain | the set of all the inputs of a function |
Range | the set of all the outputs of a function |
Scatter Plot | a graph of a collection of ordered pairs that allows an exploration of the relationship between the points |
Vertical Line Test | a visual method used to determine whether a relation represented as a graph is a function |
Absolute Value Function | a function that can be written in the form f(x) = |x| |
Square or Quadratic Function | a function that can be written in the form f(x) = ax^2 + bx + c, where a, b, and c are any numbers and a does not equal zero |
Cube or Cubic Function | a function that can be written in the form f(x) = ax^3 +bx^2 + cx + d |
