Term | Definition |
Natural Resource | Anything from nature that people can use. |
Nonrenewable Resource | A resource that, once used, cannot be replaced in a reasonable amount of time. |
Renewable Resource | A resource that can be replaced within a reasonable amount of time. |
Fossil Fuel | Fuel formed from the remains of once-living things. |
Conservation | The use of less of something to make its supply last longer. |
Soil | A mixture of water, air, tiny pieces of rock, and humus. |
Pollution | Any harmful substance in the environment. |
Humus | The remains of decayed plants or animals in the soil |
Sand | The largest particles of rock that make up soil. |
Clay | The smallest particles of rock that make up soil. |
Silt | Particles of rock that are smaller than sand but larger than clay. |
Nutrients | Substances in soil that plants need to grow and stay healthy. |
