deep learning | learning in which the aim is for students to understand and apply what they have learned and be able to transfer that learning to other contexts |

learning goals | brief statements describing what students should know or be able to do by the end of a defined instructional period |
authentic assessments | assessments aimed at evaluating not just students’ knowledge, but also how well they are able to apply that knowledge to real-world tasks that require higher-order cognitive skills |
