Term | Definition |
Quotient | When dividing one exponential expression by another with the SAME base, we subtract the exponents (Assuming the bases do not equal 0). |
Product | When multiplying exponential expressions with the SAME base, we add the exponents. |
Power | When a power is raised by a power, we multiply the exponents. |
Positive Rational Exponents | A base is raised to a fractional exponent.The denominator of the exponent becomes the index of the radical expression, and the base is raised to the numerator. |
Negative Rational Exponents | A base is raised to a fractional exponent.The denominator of the exponent becomes the index of the radical expression, and the base is raised to the numerator. The expression is placed in the denominator. |
