Structure | Function |
.Cell Wall | animal cells don't have one Plants:made of cellulose Gives strength ,structure, & rigidity to plant thru Tugor Pressure |
.Cell Membrane | Outside covering determines what goes in/out cells Flexible, but supports cells |
.Vacuole | Storage unit in cells that hold water Large in plant, small in animal cells |
.Nucleus | Control center of cell Houses DNA Controls cell growth and makes ribosome |
.Lysosome | Contains digestive enzymes to break things down in cells |
.Mitochondria | "Power House Of The Cell" Produces energy (breaks down glucose) C6H12O6+O2 --> CO2+H20+Energy |
.Cytoplasm | Gelatinous, semi-transparent fluids that fills the cells Organelles are suspended in Cytoplasm |
.Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum | Covered in ribosome, stores proteins |
.Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum | (no ribosome) transport cell products |
.Ribosome | Site of Protein Synthesis |
.Golgi Body | Package cell products for transport (like UPS) |
.Chloroplast | Site of Photosynthesis:captures radiant energy and converts it to chemical energy (c6h12o6) Has Chlorophyll-green pigment that absorbs light |
