SUM | the answer to an addition problem. |
PRODUCT | the answer to a multiplication problem. |
PERIMETER | the distance around a shape. |
RIGHT ANGLE | measures 90 degrees. |
PARALLELOGRAM | a quadrilateral with opposite sides parallel. |
CONGRUENT | having the same size or same shape. |
HEXAGON | a 6-sided shape. |
VERTEX | the point where lines or rays meet/intersect. |
ADDEND | any number that is added to another number. 4 + 6 |
OBTUSE ANGLE | an angle that measures more than 90 degrees, but less than 180 degrees. |
ACUTE ANGLE | an angle that measures less than 90 degrees. |
PERPENDICULAR | 2 lines that intersect to form right angles. |
QUADRANGLE | a shape with 4 sides. |
OCTAGON | an 8-sided shape. |
PENTAGON | a 5-sided shape. |
EXPANDED FORM | 5,462 = 5,000 + 400 + 60 + 2 |
PARALLEL LINES | Lines that will NEVER intersect. They are always the same distance apart. |
MULTIPLES | 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42... |
FACTORS | numbers that you multiply together to get a product. |
AREA | the measure inside of a shape. |
LINE OF SYMMETRY | a line that divides a figure into 2 halves that mirror each other. |
CUBE | a solid (3D) shape with 6 square faces that are congruent. |
RECTANGULAR PRISM | a solid (3D) figure in which all 6 faces are rectangles. |
PICTOGRAPH | a graph that uses pictures to show information. |
FACE | one side of a solid figure. |
MODE | the number that occurs MOST OFTEN in a set of numbers. |
MEDIAN | the middle number in a set of numbers. |
EDGE | a line segment that connects 2 faces. |
CORNER | where 3 or more edges meet. |
TRANSLATION | when a pattern is repeated, or slid across. |
ROTATION | when a figure or shape is turned. |
REFLECTION | when a figure or shape is flipped to show a mirror image of itself. |
