1765   Stamp Act   Every newspaper, pamphlet, or other public or legal document had to have a tax stamp

1766   Declaratory Act   Said that Great Britain was "the boss" of the American colonies.

1767   Townshend Acts   Placed new taxes on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea

1773   Tea Act   Gave a monopoly on tea sales to the East India Company

1774   Intolerable Acts   Allowed trials to be moved to get a "fair" trial. Made all law officers subject to appointment. Closed the Port of Boston. Allowed troops in peoples' homes. Granted rights to Catholics in Quebec
