carbon fixation   Joining carbon dioxide to RuBP in the Calvin Cycle.
stomata   Small pores in the undersurface of a plant’s leaves used for gas exchange.
C4 pathway   Plants living in hot, dry climates, like corn or sugar cane use this alternate pathway to fix carbon dioxide.
CAM pathway   Plants like pineapples use this pathway to fix carbon dioxide. They open their stomata at night.
rubisco   The most common enzyme on earth-used to join carbon dioxide and RuBP.
ATP   The cell’s energy currency.
