Nucleoplasm   Material within the nucleus

Chromosomes   Structures within the nucleus composed of DNA

Tissue   group of specialized cells that are similar in structure and function

Epithelial Tissue   Tissue that covers internal and external body surfaces

Epithelium   cellular covering that forms the outer layer of the skin and covers the external surfaces of the body

Endothelium   cellular covering that forms the lining of the internal organs including the blood vessels

Mesothelium   Cellular covering the forms the lining of serous membranes like the peritoneum (serous membrane that forms the lining of the abdominal cavity )

Aplasia   Lack of development of an organ/tissue/cell

Hypoplasia   incomplete or less than normal development of an organ/tissue/cell

Hyperplasia   abnormal increase in the # of cells in normal arrangement in an organ/tissue/cell

Dysplasia   abnormal growth or development of an organ/tissue/cell

Anaplasia   change in the structure of cells and their orientation to each other

Neoplasia   abnormal new growth of tissue in which mulitplication of cells in uncontrolled, more rapid then normal and progressive
