Classical Republicanism  Adhering to the theory or principles of a republican government  
Continental Congress  A formal meeting in 1774 at which delegates discussed matters of common concern regarding their governance by King George III  
Limited Government  Control or restrictions placed on the power or authority that rules a country  
Parliment  The British Legislature, made up of the House of Commons and House of Lards  
Separation of powers  The distribution of political power amoung the branches of government, giving eaxh branch a particular set of responsibilities  
Common Good  Involves individual citizens having the commitment and motivation to promote the welfare of the community to work together with other members for the greater benefit for all.  
English Bill of Rights  Prohibited the British monarchy from suspending laws, levying taxes, maintaining an army in peacetime without consent of Parliament  
Magna Carta  The Great Charter signed by English Nobles and King John in 1215 giving nobles rights and limiting the king's power  
Popular Sovereignty  The citizens hold the ultimate authority over public officals and policies  
Sovereignty  The person, body, or state in which independent and supreme authority is vested to government.
