chloroplast   In plants,the structures that transform light energy into chemical energy.  
cytoplasm   The jelly-like substance inside a cell.  
flagella   A whip-like organelle that cells use for locomotion.  
electron microscope   A microscope that uses a vacuum to view specimens.  
Golgi apparatus   An organelle that 'packages' molecules for 'shipment' throughout the cell.  
compound light microscope   A microscope that can magnify specimens up to 1000X.  
eukaryote   A cell that contains a true nucleus.  
cilia   Short, hair-like projections used by cells for locomotion.  
chlorophyll   the green pigment found in plants  
cytoskeleton   The network of tiny rods and filaments that forms the structure for the cell.  
chromatin   In a cell, the tangles of long strands of DNA  
cell wall   the structure outside the plasma membrane that helps plant cell maintain their shape.
