weight   a measure of the force of gravity on an object  
mass   a measurement of how much matter is in an object  
international system of units (SI)   the system of units used by scientists to measure the properties of matter. (also IU)  
volume   the amount of space that matter occupies l x w x h = v  
density   the measurement how much mass of a substance is contained in a given volume d = m/v  
atom   the smallest particle of an element  
molecule   a combination of two or more atoms
