Answer
digit   Any of the symbols 0,1,2,3,4,5.6,7,8,9 in the base 10 numeration system  
estimate (ballpark estimate)   An answer close to, or approximating, an exact answer.  
range   The difference between the maximum and minimum in a set of data. Used as a measure of the speed of data.  
mode   The value or values that occur most often in a set of data.  
unit   an agreed upon unit of measure, for example foot, pound, gallon, meter, kilogram, liter.  
length   The distance between two points.  
perimeter   A distance around a polygon.  
area   The measurement of the size of the inside surface of a polygon.  
circumference   The perimeter (distance around) of a circle.  
diameter   A line segment that passes through the center of a circle or sphere.  
polygon   a 2 dimensional figure formed by 3 or more line segments (sides) that meet only at their endpoints (vertices) to make a closed shape. The line segments of a polygon may not cross.  
vertices   Two line segments that meet to make an angle.  
tiling (tessellation)   The covering of a surface with shapes so that there are no gaps or overlaps.  
square unit   A unit used to measure area. The length must be the same on all sides of the unit.  
factor   each of the two or more numbers in a product.  
product   The answer to a multiplying two or more numbers.  
dividend   The number in division that is being divided (the big number).  
divisor   In division, the number that divides another number (dividend). This number is smaller than the dividend.  
quotient   The answer to a division problem.  
remainder   An amount left over when one number is divided into another number.  
square number   The product of a number multiplied by itself. It will make a square array.
