connects cell structures to their functions

        Help!

Structure
Function
Nucleus   controls rest of cell's actions; contains the genetic information of the cell (DNA) in the form of chromosomes
🗑
mitochondrion   provides energy for the cell
🗑
endoplasmic reticulum   synthesizes lipids and proteins
🗑
vacuole   helps with intracellular digestion and acts as storage for the cell
🗑
centrosome   produces micotubules that are involved in mitosis and in producing cilia and flagella
🗑
golgi body   packages macromolecules for transport throughout the cell
🗑
chloroplast   contains chlorophyll and is involved in photosynthesis
🗑
peroxisome   protects the cell by breaking down hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen
🗑
cell wall   provides and maintains the shape of prokaryotic and plant cells and provides a protective barrier
🗑
cell membrane   controls what enters and exits the cell
🗑
cytosol   the "soup" that all the other organelles reside in; it contains proteins which control the cell's metabolism
🗑
ribosome   synthesizes proteins
🗑
secretory vesicle   packages cell secretions such as hormones and neurotransmitters and carries them to the cell surface for release
🗑
lysosome   involved in cellular digestion
🗑
flagellum   helps the cell to move
🗑
nucleolus   produces ribosomes in the nucleus which are then transported to the endoplasmic reticulum
🗑
cilium   plural is cilia; it works with other cilia to move the cell

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.

To hide a column, click on the column name.

To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.

You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.

Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
