What is an element?   An element is any substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances.  
What is a compound?   A compound is when two or more elements chemically combine.  
What are compounds called that do not contain carbon?   They are called inorganic compounds.  
Compounds that contain carbon are called....   organic compounds  
Give three examples of lipids.   Fats, Oils, Waxes.  
Give two examples of carbohydrates.   Sugars and Starches  
Carbohydrates are made of...   Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen.  
Lipids are made of...   Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen.  
Proteins are made of...   Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, and in some cases sulfur.
