Gaenslen's Sign   knee to chest,Shift to side of table,Allow unsupported leg to drop over edge of table   pain in the SI region   SI joint dysfunction  
Ober Test   Pt. sidelyingPassively flex knee and hip bringing hip into ABD and extension so ITB clears greater trochanterAllow leg to slowly aDDuct   hip stays ABD or pelvis moves before hip is ADD   ITB tightness  
Thomas Test   Athlete supine and ath. brings one knee to chest   involved thigh (opposite hip) flexes = tight hip flexors (iliopsoas)), opposite knee extends = tight rectus femoris   tight hip flexors and rectus femoris  
Trendelenburg Test   Stand on one leg for approx. 10 seconds   NWB hip drops away from WB hip   Strength of gluteus medius (not able to support the torso in an errect position)  
Piriformis Test   Side-lying on uninvolved side,Position top leg at 60 deg hip flexion,Apply downward pressure to knee over table   pain in piriformis   Piriformis tightness  
Hip Scouring   Patient SupinePassively flex pt hip and kneeApply longitudinal pressure along shaft of femur as compress joint surfaceComplete with IR & ER of hip during multiple angles of hip flexion   pain or sypmtoms in hip reproduced   osteochondral defect ((defect in articular cartilage of femur or acetabulum)
