medium   any matter (solid, liquid, gas) that has molecules to transport the wave’s energy. Think of the medium a the item that is disturbed with the vibrations.

mechanical vs. electromagnetic waves   Mechanical Waves require a medium, but electromagnetic waves don’ t require a medium.
