Monarchy   One person inherits power. After kings died they wanted to give their power to they're oldest son. Kings had many powers such as making laws, being judges, conduct religious ceremonies, and even led during wars. Kings had councils called aristocrats.

Oligarchy   A few people held power. Compared to poor, Oligarchs had very comfortable lives. Oligarchs hunted, did chariot races, drank wine, and had parties where slaves entertained. Poor worked in fields. Oligarchs made unfair laws, so the poor got army, took over

Tyranny   The men who took power from Oligarchs are called Tyrants. Tyrants took power by force and they were not lawful kings. Tyrants ruled good by givng poor more needs. The last Tyrant, Hippius killed his brother, Hipparchus and ruled harshly.He was kicked out

Democracy   In 500 B.C.E citezens tried governing themselves. Greek goverment is different from today. Every citezen can vote on any issue. Direct Domacracy worked by having an assembly where any free man could speak. Democracy is a great gift from Greeks.
