| Store Essence | Jing - Precious substance inherited from the parents (pre-natal). Partially replenished by the Qi extracted from Food (Post-natal). |
| Governs Birth, growth, reproduction, and Development | Post-Natal Jing. Cycles of 7 for women and 8 for men. Agingis due to a physiological decline i=of essence during life. |
| Produces Marrow to fill up the brain | Derived from essence. Substacnes with this common matrix are bones, bone marrow, brain, spinal cord. "The Kidneys are the origin of Skill adn intellegence." |
| Controls Bones | bone marrow nourishes. If KI essence is weak bones will be brittle and teeth will be loose |
| Governs Water | Governs the transformation and transportation of Body Fluids. KI are like a gate that opens & closes in order to control the flow of body Fluids in the Lower Burner. KI belong to the LB (SI/LI). KI recieve fluids from the LU. KI Yang give to SP Yang. |
| Control the Reception of Qi | KI and LU work together to make use of the Clear Qi of the Air. LU descending action direct down to KI. KI hold Qi down. |
| Opens to the ears | Physiologically related to the KI. Rely on the nourishment of essence for proper functioning. |
| Manifests in the Hair (head) | Essence Controls the quality/texture and color |
| Controls the Two lower orifices | Fucntional related to the KI. Front lower orifice - urethra and spermatic duct in men (BL derives the Qi necessary for Transformation fo Urine from KI). Rear lower orifice - anus (Although automatically related to the LI, fucntionally related to KI). |
