| Massacre of the Mamluks |

The Mamluks ruled Egypt from 1249 to 1517 and again during the 1700s. When Mehmet Ali Pasha conquered them in 1811 and controlled Egypt, he invited the commanders to a banquet in Cairo where they were massacred. |
