sonnet: 14 lines; 10 syllables per line

dramatic irony: when the aduience knows something the characters do not

irony: the use of a words mean something different from what they appear on the surface to mean

soliloquy: when a character speaks his thoughts aloud

botanist: one who studies plants

aye: yes

wherefore: why

ere: before

foreshadowing: a hint dropped by a character that will happen in the future

sight rhyme: when two words in a sonnet don't rhyme but the last three letters of the words are the same

iambic pentameter: 10 syllables per line with an accent on every second syllable

scan: to put accents on every second syllable

kinsmen: servant
